= All+ December 2023 Comfort Foods pg 38 == Lesson Plan (50 min) Total time is 50 minutes. === Opening Activity: 10 min * First we will spend 5-10 minutes talking about the various foods on page 38 and 39. * We will then play a game where a student has to draw one of the foods on the board and the other students have to guess which food it is, in English! === Reading: 10 min * Turn to page 40. * Using a speaker or video, scan the QR code on page 38, 39 or 40 and play the text audio twice. * Then, ask the class to repeat the text with you. === Vocabulary: 10 min * Write down the question, do you like spicy foods? * Then write down 'mild' and also in Chinese. * Play the adjectives game; the students get points for saying an opposite adjective. ** For example, hot - cold. tall - short. up - down. Then say spicy -- and point at mild ** Yes they got it! Mild is the opposite adjective for spicy. * Now ask the question to 3 or 4 students, do you like spicy food or mild food? And, which one is your favorite spicy (or mild) food? ** If they answer correctly, they must understand this vocabulary. === Partner Practice: 15 min * Read through together with a student. Now explain to the class that they have (5 minutes) to practice the conversation with a partner. * After they have been observed to have practiced, ask 2 or 3 groups to speak. Ask for volunteers as well. === Cool down: 5 min * We will repeat the vocabulary. and keyword sentences. === Extra Time * If there is extra time, we can play 'run up and write' in which students run up to the board and write the English word (and we see who can write it fastest and best!)
