Grading Criteria

Project 1

Project 1 is to choose a topic (such as, how do I go to school, etc.) and take three photos to tell a story about that subject.

Students will receive three marks: One mark is out of six to show that they completed the project: one mark for each picture and story explanation. Then there are two marks if the pictures tell a cohesive story, and two more if the story itself is cohesive (i.e. connected). Therefore the total mark is out of 10.

Example: Three pictures and three explanations is worth 6. But the student's pictures are random scenes from school life. This is worth 2 points. If the pictures were connected parts of one story (ex. a typhoon damage narrative, or a sequence of events during a class or event) then that is worth 4 points.

0 is for no connection, 1 is for somewhat, 2 is all pictures about the same thing (however the connection is), 3 is for an attempt at, and 4 is for a full cohesive narrative across the photos and photo stories – as if they were “one story” (which is the goal).
