A cat sat on the soft mat and watched the clock.
A cold wind pressed against the glass and rattled the pots.
The old hound stood, stretched, and walked to the dock.
Dark clouds spread as frogs hopped over the slick rocks.
To catch a frog the cat leapt, but its paws slipped and it skidded back.
The hound growled, “Watch your step, for the rocks are wet.”
The cat flicked its tail and laughed, “I never fall, I am fast!”
It jumped again, but the slick stone sent it tumbling into the black pond.
The hound raised his paw and said, “Pride trips the quickest feet.”
Dripping and wet the cat agreed, “Look before you leap!”
