Teacher's Meetings
- 113 Spring Semester
Notes
It seems that very few teachers actually come and talk to me on Tuesdays. However, some occasionally do. Often I write their notes directly into the classroom page, but some notes I will record here.
March 27
I met with Stanley who gave me some advice based on student feedback.
Gao Er Yi
- They are an advanced class so they don't always need to study directly from the magazine.
- They want to learn more about English Composition.
- What comes to mind is the JLPT lesson on compositions ('hobbies') from the book.
- They can also practice describing objects, photos, etc. for 30, 60, and 90 seconds.
- This is a test component of IELTS (and GEPT advanced IIRC).
- Can extend into essay writing after compositions.
Gao Yi Yi
There has been talk of a collaborative presentation with another school. We will take time to write 'pen pal letters' to the other students in the class (in Moldova, for example) introducing themselves and asking questions.
Gao San Li
- They have asked for help in creating power point presentations.
- What makes a good PPT? What is expected?
- University Interview english. academic english for 'introducing' or presenting during an applications interview.
Notes in general: Jeff has requested, especially for Gao San Li, that every student be given a role in the presentation. Some students are not announcing or not doing very much work and it is concerning that they are slipping through. Key– Even if you are nervous, coming up here and 'trying' is the most important step. It's like a story about my sister eating mushrooms for the first time, 'Green eggs and ham'?
