October 31
- Today the index cards were handed out.
- The students were given 10 minutes to rewrite their speech onto the cards.
- Each card must contain:
- Card Number (upper left)
- Student Number (lower left)
- Name (lower right)
October 27
- Today we discussed mnemonic devices such as the 10 and 12 methods.
- We discussed writing the speeches on index cards.
- I demonstrated the 10-method with a grocery list and then I demonstrated the glance and say method using index cards.
- Next class students will be required to write their speech on index cards (which I will provide) if they have not already written.
October 24
- Today we will suggest to add some hand motions, or to speak out to the class (do not hide behind the paper).
- Additionally we suggest to add a question and an exclamation mark to each speech in order to begin to work on elocution of speech (tonal intonation) and add some excitement and interest to the speech.

- Today is the last day to finish and submit a rough draft. It must be at least 1 minute long, preferably 1 minute and 20 seconds. I will read it and determine if it is long enough, etc.
- It must be written in a speaking or presentation style, not in point form. Progress will be recorded above in 'progress'.
- Students who are completely finished can progress to reading and presentation. I will give one or two corrections for each presentation.
- Next week: 10/22-10/28 Adding Elocution to the speech / Students can add stage direction to their speech.

- Today I read and reviewed the first half of the class's rough drafts.
- We discussed the length of time it must take to read (1min to 2 min) and the content of the drafts.

- Today we moved towards rough draft. The students must be finished their rough draft by the 17th.
