高一仁 JS303 English Listening and Speaking

Class Overview

  • This class requires props and scaffolding.

Scaffolding Review

October 19

  • Today's class is pg. 44. “Turn your Trash into Treasures!”

Scaffolding for Pain and Imagination

  • Write words on the board
  • Ask students to come up and write
  • Play the pain game. Does this hurt? Does that hurt? Does it feel painful? Does that feel painful?
  • Play the imagination guessing game. What am I thinking? What animal is in my imagination?
  • Difference between words. Students must say “pain” or “imagination”
    • I don't want to do my homework (pain)
    • I am a happy pony (imagination)
    • I hurt my finger (pain)
    • I have one million dollars! (imagination)
    • I am so hungry now (pain)
    • I have a big sandwich (imagination)
  • Write conversation on the board:
    • A: Ouch! I just hurt my finger! It is such a pain.
    • B: Do you need a band-aid?
    • A: Yes, but I do not have one.
    • B: Yes you do. You just need to use your imagination.
    • A: Wow, a band aid! Thank you for helping.
    • B: It's no problem. But I also have a pain.
    • A: What is it?
    • B: I did not finish my homework yet.
    • A: Yes you did. You must use your imagination.
    • B: Oh, wow! My homework is finished now! But…. but…..
    • A: What?
    • B: The teacher does not have imagination.
  • The conversation can be something else too.
  • If there is more time, first read the first paragraph and then ask the students to write it. The ones who can finish will receive bonus marks for this semester. But there will probably not be that much time because of the group conversations above.
