The Cat and the Slick Rocks, or “To Catch a Frog”.
- A cat sat on the soft mat and watched the clock.
- A cold wind pressed against the glass and rattled the pots.
- The old hound stood, stretched, and walked to the dock.
- Dark clouds spread as frogs hopped over the slick rocks.
- To catch a frog the cat leapt, but its paws slipped and it skidded back.
- The hound growled, “Watch your step, for the rocks are wet.”
- The cat flicked its tail and laughed, “I never fall, I am fast!”
- It jumped again, but the slick stone sent it tumbling into the black pond.
- The hound raised his paw and said, “Pride trips the quickest feet.”
- Dripping and wet the cat agreed, “Look before you leap!”
